Jose Luis Ramírez
José Luis Ramírez Romero has a Ed.D. in Education from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and a B.A in Education from the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon. He is a researcher and professor at the Foreign Language Department of the University of Sonora and has worked as faculty developer, curriculum consultant, guest professor or speaker in several universities in Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador and the United States. He is member of the Mexican Researchers National System (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores), former president of the “Mexican Network of Researchers in Foreign Languages”, and member of several editorial boards (including the MEXTESOL magazine) and various professional associations such as MEXTESOL, the Mexican Council for Educational Research (COMIE), and the Mexican Society of Comparative Education (SOMEC).
He has published more than 70 articles and book chapters on the topics of faculty development, educational technology, and research on foreign language teaching in Mexico, has coordinated three books on foreign language research in Mexico, and has participated in several national and international research teams. He is currently on charge of the national research project “The Teaching of English in Mexican Elementary schools”.
